Abstract

PT. BEI Plant 3 is a vehicle electrical component manufacturer that serves the automotive industry. The company is currently unable to meet customers' demands with their regular capacity. We conduct preliminary research and brainstorming sessions with management to identify potential causes of the problem. A problem with the housing process causes an imbalance of work throughout the assembly line, where we find numerous idle workstations. Therefore, we propose work method improvement using Maynard Operation Sequence Technique (MOST) to improve production output. Furthermore, we also use Stopwatch Time Measurement (SWTM) to retrieve actual standard time and describe the current housing process state. The result shows that MOST may increase estimated revenue by 30%. On the other hand, the result also indicates that the work method is not the actual cause of the company's problem, as the actual standard time may fulfil the demand. We advise further study to explore other potential causes of the current issue.
