Abstract

Briquettes are an energy source that can be used as an alternative energy substitute. Briquettes can be made from materials that we often see in our daily lives,such as coconut fiber, rice husks,husks, sawdust,cornstalks,andleaves. Briquettesare produced by pressing or compressing aprocess that aims to produce more energy in a relatively small size by increasingthecalorificvalue per unitareaofmaterial usedasalternativeenergy. The purpose of this research is to design and manufacture a briquette printing machine using an electric motor drive generator. In this study,the raw material used was a mixture of rice husk and starch as an adhesive. The speed of the driving machine is 2800 rpm. Furthermore, the resulting briquettes haveadiameterof4cmand7cm. Fromthe resultsofthe planningofthe briquette printer in this study,this briquette has a diameter of3.5cm with a length of about 6.5cm. The way the briquette printing machineworks starts from the engine or generator driving the electric motor that drives the pulleys and then the pulleys are connected to the main shaft. The main shaft rotates and is connected to a molding that is mounted with a nut tolock. Ontopofthemoldthereisarollerwhichrotatesduetothefrictionthatoccursbetween the rollerandthe moldatacertaindistance, inthegap betweenthe rollerandthe moldthere are raw materials(rice husk powder and starch)which have been mixed together which will then be compressed duetothe compressiveforce betweenthe rollerandthemold. Whenthe raw material comes out of the mold,there will be a crossbar that serves as a container for the briquettes. Then the skewers come out through the funnel in a cylindrical shape with a diameterthat matchesthe mold.
