Penurunan Defect Miss Insert Pada Proses Housing Dengan Metode Plan-Do-Check-Action (PDCA) di PT XYZ

Abstract

This research aims to decrease defective products in PT. XYZ. PT XYZ, a manufacturing company that produces wiring harness products for motorized vehicles, is very concerned about the quality of its products. However, there are still wiring harness products that experience defects, especially in the housing process. Based on defects data in the housing process from August, September and October 2022, defects caused by miss inserts are the highest of the 6 other types of defects, namely 367 units or 44% of all defects. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify the causes of defects due to miss inserts and how to make improvements. This study uses the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Action) method with Pareto diagrams, fishbone diagrams, and the 5W+IH method. The results of the study show that improvements to workers and work methods can reduce defects due to miss inserts. This can be seen from the decrease in defects in the housing process in November, December 2022 and January 2023 by 253 units with a total percentage of 43%. These results are above the target of PT. XYZ to reduce defects due to miss insert by 10%.
