Abstract

  1. XYZ is a packaging systems company which their production output in the reconditioning line or recycling production line for intermediate bulk containers (IBC) is still low, only 38%. Therefore, this study aims to identify the factors that cause low production output, make improvements to increase output production, and increase the production output in line reconditioning by 10%. The method used is the kaizen concept with the 8 step PDCA method and the help of fishbone diagrams and 5W+1H tools. The analysis of this study results several causal factors and how to fix them: 1) Machine factor, improvement by using semi-automatic tools, setting up the vacuum depotting machine, and operating the vacuum depotting machine manually; 2) Method factor, improvement by making a new appropriate Work Instruction (WI); and 3) Material factors, improvement by doing classification and segregation processes for incoming raw materials. After the above improvement, production output was increased by 12%.
