Rancang Bangun Alat Bantu Pelepas Cetakan (Dies Ejector) Pada Proses Ekstrusi Aluminium Menggunakan Silinder Pneumatik

The aluminum extrusion process often requires an auxiliary device to remove the die, which is frequently difficult due to high friction forces and installation position. This research aims to design and develop a die ejector tool utilizing a pneumatic system. The methodology includes literature study, observation, design concept formulation, theoretical calculations, needs analysis, as well as fabrication and testing of the tool.The design resulted in a die ejector tool powered by a double-acting pneumatic cylinder with specifications of 250 mm bore, 300 mm stroke, and 100 mm piston rod diameter. Theoretical calculations show that a piston force of 1962 N is sufficient to release a load equivalent to 200 kg, requiring only 0.4 bar of pressure. Field testing demonstrated that the tool operates effectively at 4–6 bar, with an average release time of 11–13 seconds. The results co nfirm that the pneumatic-based die ejector tool was successfully designed and can improve the efficiency of the die removal process in aluminum extrusion. This tool is expected to reduce production downtime and enhance operator safety.
