Abstract

Efficiency and quality are key elements in the production process. In April 2023, PT. ADIENT AUTOMOTIVE INDONESIA discovered problems in its manufacturing procedures. These problems included missing components, folded seams, visible seams, loose or hanging threads, misaligned seams on components, stitching that was too tight (at least 3 steps), needle holes, crooked or wavy stitches, and missing stitches altogether. This study aimed to determine why defects persisted in the manufacturing process, reduce the number of defects in car seat manufacturing, and provide recommendations for improvements that would reduce defects in the company. To identify the reasons behind these problems, this study used the FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) method, which includes tools such as the Pareto diagram, the fishbone diagram, and the FMEA itself. This study identified the main causes of defects in the car seat production process and provided recommendations for improvements using the FMEA method.
