Abstract

Manual weighing and packaging of granulated sugar is still commonly used by small and medium enterprises, but the process is time-consuming and prone to weighing inaccuracies. This research aims to design and develop an automatic granulated sugar packaging tool based on the Arduino Mega 2560 microcontroller to improve efficiency and accuracy in the weighing process. The system integrates an HX711 load cell sensor for weight measurement, an I2C LCD for displaying information, a keypad for weight input, and two servo motors to control the sugar flow from the hopper into the packaging. A photoelectric sensor is used to detect the availability of sugar before the weighing process begins. Testing was carried out on three weight variations (250g, 500g, and 750g) using two different hopper capacities (1 kg and 3 kg). The test results show that the system has an average percentage error ranging from 2.02% to 2.99%, which is within acceptable packaging error limits. In addition, the system demonstrates relatively low standard deviation values, indicating stable weight readings.
