Abstract

To design a desktop CNC milling machine as a solution to facilitate practical activities, Inventor software was used to create a 3-dimensional model which was then carried out with FEA simulations. The machine frame design has dimensions of 260 X 310 X 255 MM with working material capacity of 100 X 100 X 20 MM. From the calculation, the maximum value of machining proses for cutting depth a_p=2 mm, feeding thickness f=0,082 mm/tooth produces cutting force F_t=122,77 N and deflection δ_(maks_x)=0,1 mm. From manual calculation analysis, the maximum stress on the linear shaft is 3.52 MPa, while in the FEA simulation it is 2.086 MPa. There are differences in the calculation results but both are still within safe limits regarding material strength and deflection so this research can be continued to the next stage.
