Abstract

The increasing demand of Indonesian people for automotive products requires vehicle manufacturers to be more productive in producing their products. One way that can be done to increase production is to modify the production process so that it becomes more efficient in the utilization of working hours but while maintaining the quality of the production results. This research aims to make efficiency in the pressing or stamping process by modifying existing dies. Value analysis value engineering is a technique to identify ways of working or various functions needed from a product, determining these functions at the lowest possible cost. From this explanation, reducing production costs is very important to produce goods at a low cost and produce quality products at competitive prices. Redesigning starts from studying drawing dies to obtain data on material specifications and product dimensions. After obtaining the data, it is continued with the drawing of the modification of tandem dies to be semi progressive where without changing the overall construction, only the lower insert and upper pad parts. The results of these modifications produce dies into a series of processes and can reduce the cycle time of making front seat reinforcement parts by reducing the use of machines and operators.
