Abstract

Practical activities are very useful for students to apply the theories they have learned into real activities. However, several educational institutions have not equipped their practical equipment so that students are less able to master their hard skill competencies. the author conducted research on the student's final assignment, namely the design of a desktop CNC milling machine clamp as an initial step in planning before making a desktop CNC milling machine for practical activities. This research aims to obtain images of aluminium material processing on a desktop CNC milling machine which has a different clamping force for each workpiece load. In the design, Inventor software was used to create a 3-dimensional model with FEA simulation. There are differences in the calculation results but both are still within safe limits regarding material strength. The results of this research will then be used as a basic reference in the design of clamp desktop CNC milling.
