Abstract

The process of separating coconut leaves still uses human power and is carried out using a kitchen knife. This process often results in small injuries due to being hit by the kitchen knife when shredding the coconut leaves, and requires a lot of time to carry out the process. The process of this activity is still carried out manually, so it takes quite a long time to sharpen the coconut leaves. And the results are less than optimal, there are still leaves that have not been completely separated from the coconut leaf stem. Creating a design for a coconut leaf and stick separating tool using AutoCAD software, technical analysis including functional testing and decision making. In testing this tool, the material used was young coconut leaves. The length of the coconut leaves used was an average of 95 cm. The comparison in testing the tool is around 5 minutes per kg of processing time for separating leaves and sticks. The results of testing using tools were more optimal than manually using a knife. Manually it is still not completely separated from the coconut leaves. By using a coconut leaf separator using an electric motor, this makes it easier and faster to do work that is usually done using a knife.
